New Year, New Me?

How many times have you said that? “New year, new me!” Usually its after fighting off a champagne hangover wondering how on earth you managed to lose a shoe and your favorite earrings, right? No, just me… well then.. just kidding, I haven’t had a NYE like that in quite a while!

Last year I set myself a ridiculous high book goal and I stopped counting by February. I have a bad habit of not following through with my New Years Resolutions, and I think I’m not the only one! I tend to set outrageous goals with the intentions to follow through but without the motivation. This year is all about setting achievable goals and learning how to follow through. It’s okay to slip up and fall back, maybe we don’t fully achieve our goals but we come close, this is the real world and things happen! What is important is that we continue to set new goals and stay motivated while creating progress towards them. This year I’ve decided to share my goals with you and I would love to hear about yours in the comments!

Bec’s New Years Resolutions 2021

  1. Reading Goal:

3 books a month, 1 must be Non-fiction, 1 must be read while the others CAN be audiobooks, and 2 must be ones I’ve never read before.

  2. The classic, cook at home more, eat out less. I wand to do this because it is healthier in general but also to save money. I spend way too much on Door Dash meals while my lettuce sits in the fridge wilting sadly.

  3. I want to become a better baker. I’m very excited to expand my bread baking knowledge! Bring on the sourdough (Woot Woot!) and ALL of the pies.

  4. I want to become more active. I’m not going to set a fitness goal because that has always intimidated me in the past, but I am setting an activity goal. Longer, more frequent walks with my dog. Less sitting on my butt at home (difficult when your side job is crocheting…)

  5. This is a big personal goal for me: I am getting my teeth fixed in 2021! Woohoo! I’ve had one bad tooth for a few years that I’ve been ignoring based on an irrational fear of the dentist. This year I have decided that enough is enough. I scheduled an appointment to get it removed and I’m going to get an implant! This is a very big step for me and it won’t be finished overnight. There are many steps involved but I’ve started the process and I’m really proud of myself already!

  6. Another personal goal I had was to move my business off Etsy and participate in as many craft fairs as possible this year. NYE 2019 I decided that I would close my Etsy and only do craft fairs… as you can probably guess I did a whopping 0 craft fairs. Thanks Covid. But this year I am working on becoming a more independent business. My first step was starting this page! I can’t wait to see how far this can go!

That’s all I have set for myself so far this year. New year, New me feels like such a toxic saying. I don’t need to be a whole new person, I like myself. What I do want is to become a better version of myself. I love improving myself and taking the opportunity to set goals and grow. I don’t want to set obnoxious goals that will intimidate me if I fall back and cause me to quit. I’m much more interested in setting goals that motivate me to become better.

Cheers to setting attainable goals for 2021!
